MAY 2004: After a month of delays getting new parts installed (LSD, Camshafts, Valve Springs, etc) it was time to test and tune the new upgrades. Unfortunately because the nearest chassis dyno at the time was in Calgary a road trip was in order. The trip to Calgary was uneventful and I was enthused about the great highway mileage I was getting with the new setup (~40mpg). While the trip to Calgary was uneventful, the dyno testing did not prove to be so kind. We made 3 pulls on the dyno. The new setup made power (approximately 15whp more) right off the bat even with a conservative A/F ratio of ~12:1. On the third run disaster struck! At 7500 rpm a valve face fatigued leaving the valve stem and resulting in the damage seen below. A new motor contemplated while on the long tow ride home was the beginnings of the current setup…
